Mr. Jon Mitteness, Principal

Jon Mitteness is honored to serve as the Principal at Sunset Ridge. For over 22 years, Mr. Mitteness has been a part of the Pendergast Elementary School District. He has been a Classroom Teacher, Mentor Teacher, Instructional Coach, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal at a variety of sites within PESD. He is passionate about providing high expectations and opportunities for success for all students.

Mr. Mitteness looks forward to partnering with the Sunset Ridge community to ensure our students and staff experience a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment. His goal is to empower learners to meet the expectations the PESD Portrait of a Graduate: English | Español

Ms. Tomorrah Howard, Assistant Principal

Tomorrah Howard has served as an exemplary teacher for the Pendergast School District since 2015. This is Mrs. Howard’s 17th year in education, during which she has served in multiple capacities, including classroom teacher, technology coach, campus data specialist, and summer school coordinator. Mrs. Howard holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Grand Canyon University, 2nd Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from JIU, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Chicago State University. Mrs. Howard is a strong believer in culturally responsive teaching to the whole child using best practices that promote academic and social success for all children. When not at school, she enjoys taking trips to Walt Disney World, going to the movies, and eating at local restaurants with her husband and three children. Her personal hobby is playing retro video games such as Mario, Pac-man and Sonic.
